It’s nearly that time of year again! Bonfire night is generally something to look forward to, but if your pet has a firework phobia you might already be dreading it. Don’t forget that there are lots of steps you can take to help your pet cope with all the fuss. • Prepare as early as possible. Speak to the family about useful methods for your pet. • With a little time, sound desensitisation therapy can help reduce your pet’s fears. • Pheromone treatments can • help your pet manage stressful situations. • Special diets or supplements • can help to maintain a calm state in the lead up to the festivities. Medication is sometimes useful in the short term for severe phobias. On the night, ensure your pet can get to a place they feel safe and try to act as normally as possible. Avoid fussing over them if you can.
