Attention, Please! I'm the handsome Seamus and I'm looking for a forever home. A quiet home without other pets would be great. I especially like women, but some men are okay with me. I won't take up much room-I'm only 25lbs. I love to run and play and if you visit me we can go on my favorite walk-through the woods, over logs & stuff and finally back to my place. I could sit on your lap for hours while I get treats. Then we could plan on going to your place for toys galore. I would like to be your pampered pup. Call my people for an appointment to meet me, so that I can work my magic and wrap you around my little paw!
"Poor Seamus has had it rough in his life and it has now gotten worse. We had been noticing that he was losing his eyesight as well as developing a hypersensitivity to light and, months ago, his eyes started to cross but, by the time we took him to the vet, they were again straight and no diagnosis was made at the time but, practically overnight, he has gone blind. He was fine until two days ago when he started squinting with his left eye and now, he is bumping into everything, does not go up or down the stairs and has started to growl at everybody who tries to approach him -a sure sign of sudden blindness. We are getting him to a regular vet first to determine whether we should take him to an ophtalmologist or a neurologist (the symptoms could mean a brain tumor or brain damage due to previous trauma) but either specialist is going to cost a lot of money and, if he requires an MRI, we are talking $1,500 - a lot of money for a rescue that supports itself entirely through small donations and the goodwill and generosity of its volunteers. So, please, anything that you can donate on his behalf would be more than appreciated. Shamus is a good boy that has had a real bad time in life but he slowly and valiantly overcame his issues and had become a favorite of the volunteers, please help him get another chance at a normal life."
UPDATE 2/19/10:
Shamus has gone blind due to Glaucoma.
The medication is very expensive and Shamus may need surgery to remove the eyes to release the pressure.
Any donation would make his life more comfortable and would be highly appreciated.
Please help our poor boy!
